Abstract

The integration of magneto-optical devices enables cost and size reduction in optical commutication systems. Nonreciprocal phase shifters can be used to build polarization independent isolators and circulators. New photonic bandgap materials with high Faraday rotation make conventional magneto-optic device concepts suitable for PLC integration. Keywords: isolators, circulators, nonreciprocal devices, integrated magneto-optics
