Realization of High Mode Confinement in Nanometer Thin Low-Index Media by Multiple Stacked Slot Waveguides

Abstract

A multiple stacked slot waveguide structure is proposed for realizing high optical mode confinement in nanometer thin low-index media. A 45% confinement factor has been achieved in 250nm wide and 5nm thin multiple low-index layers.
