Modification of second-harmonic generation from SiO2-Si(001) surfaces due to ultrathin Cr coatings

Abstract

An ultrathin Cr coating layer on oxidized (with varying oxide thickness) Si(001) surfaces significantly modifies second-harmonic generation (SHG). SHG from Cr-SiO2-Si(001) includes a non-negligible contribution from the Cr that is observable in rotational-anisotropy and spectroscopy.
