Abstract

Among different diagnostic techniques, Raman spectroscopy has been studied as a promising new tool for real time diagnostic. In this study we conducted Raman experiments in vivo and/or ex vivo in a high incidence of tumors and / or mortality rate. The in vivo transcutaneous breast measurements for normal and abnormal tissues were correctly classified with a discriminant proportion of 73%, whereas for the in vivo skin removal the discriminant proportion reached 86%. For ex vivo breast cancer the specificity and sensitivity values are around 96% and 92%, respectively.
