Abstract

Various technical analyses of stimulated Raman and stimulated Brillouin scattering phenomena were performed. In the case of Raman, an experiment was done where a 1-Km SM fiber was pumped by an Ytterbium-doped fiber laser (FL) system in continuous wave (CW) regime at 1064 nm in a free-running configuration. Analytical and simulation results were compared to experimental results. The parameters compared were power threshold and maximum power for each Stokes peak. For the case of Brillouin, we propose a simple algorithm for the analysis and simulation of Brillouin power threshold by choosing a set-point. The results were obtained by solving the set of coupled differential equations and were then compared to experimental and analytical results.
