Challenges to the Concept of Intermediate Band Solar Cells based on Quantum Dots

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We demonstrate that implementing intermediate band solar cells using crystalline semiconductor quantum dots is very challenging. It is nearly impossible to significantly enhance the direct band-to-band current with the current going through the intermediate state. Article not available.
