Annealing Behavior of Femtosecond Laser-Written Waveguides in Fused Silica

Abstract

We have studied thermal annealing of fs-laser fabricated waveguides in fused silica using confocal fluorescence and Raman microscopy. The results show that laser-induced NBOHC defects disappear at much lower temperatures than three-membered SiO rings.
