Visualization of Birefringence in Tissue by Conventional Optical Coherence Tomography

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Changes of cartilage properties with dehydration, mechanical and chemical actions are presented and analyzed. The layer structures of cartilage tissues on COCT images provide birefringence information resulting primarily from tissues’ linear or fibrous structures.
