Chirped-Pulse Femtosecond Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy for Nuclear Forensics

Abstract

Experimental evidence for a significant effect of pulse chirp in laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy of uranium is reported. A 27% improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio is demonstrated by the use of linear chirp.
