Metamaterials to bridge propagating waves with surface waves and control electromagnetic waves

Abstract

We review our recent efforts in employing metamaterials to control electromagnetic (EM) waves. In particular, we show that a carefully designed gradient-index meta-surface can covert an incident propagating wave to an surface wave bounded on the meta-surface with 100% efficiency.
