A periodic structure of coupled double quantum wells for significant light slowing

Abstract

Novel periodic metamaterial, having a unit cell comprised of 2 coupled quantum wells, exhibits unusual refractive index dispersion and is supporting light propagation with low group velocity and absorption cancellation at a very narrow peak.
