Nonlinear Propagation and Slow Light of Surface Plasmon Polaritons due to Ponderomotive Forces

Abstract

Nonlinear dispersion equation of SPP propagating on a metal film is derived. High-power SPP exhibits "slow light" properties before its cutoff point due to ponderomotive repulsion of conduction electrons from the high-intensity regions.
