Abstract
A phase-modulated optical signal was translated over record 1065 nm, from the nearinfrared band to the visible band. Distant frequency translation was performed using parametric process, driven by a spectrally-narrow 780-nm pump, in a dual zero-dispersion-wavelength photonic crystal fiber. A signal, phase-modulated at Gbps, was received in an error-free manner in the visible band for the first time.
