Analyzing a New Mechanism of Air Holes to Suppress Micro-bending Loss

Abstract

A new functionality of air holes, reduction of micro-bending loss, was analyzed and discussed. The optimum air-hole diameter arranged around the fiber edge to minimize microbending loss was also investigated.
