Widely Tunable SOA-Based OTDR Employing a Cost-Effective Source Configuration

Abstract

We describe an SOA-based tunable pulsed optical source employing a novel topology, which provides pulses of variable duration and rapid rise time for OTDR measurements. Applications to spectral attenuation and CD characterization are illustrated.
