All optical diode via quadratic cascading in a PPLN waveguide

Abstract

An optical diode is demonstrated based on quadratic cascading at 1.55µm in an engineered PPLN waveguide. Experimental results are in good agreement with predictions, and a rejection as high as 90% is demonstrated at peak powers of 3.1W.
