Dramatic pump depletion in a scalar modulation instability experiment

Abstract

We report on a dramatic pump depletion in a modulation instability experiment with a photonic crystal fibre in the normal dispersion regime. Nonlinear Schrödinger simulations have been confirmed with experimental temporal profiles and pump-sideband crosscorrelations.
