Abstract

We demonstrate that matter-wave bright solitary pulses formed from Bose condensed atoms in optical lattices continuously radiate dispersive matter waves with prescribed momentum. This radiation exists universally for solitons moving through the lattice with arbitrary small but non-zero velocities. Our analytical results are found to be in excellent agreement with numerical modelling performed for experimentally relevant parameters.
