Abstract

We report the steady-state and time-resolved z-scan measurements of the nonresonant third-order optical nonlinearities in ZnSe at telecom wavelengths. The measurements demonstrate that ZnSe could be successfully used for ultrafast all-optical switching at 1550 nm.
