Second-harmonic generation with ultrashort pump pulses in photonic bandgap structures

Abstract

We numerically study the process of second-harmonic generation in one-dimensional photonic bandgap structures pumped by ultrashort pulses. Our analysis highlights reduced conversion efficiency and pulses distorsions, giving useful guidelines for the design.
