Random-phase solitons in nonlinear periodic lattices

Abstract

We present the first theoretical study and experimental demonstration of random-phase solitons (RPS) in nonlinear periodic lattices. We find that for RPS to exist, their intensity profile and statistical (coherence) properties must conform to the lattice periodicity.
