Dark enhancement of optically induced birefringence in azobenzene-containing polyester films

Abstract

The birefringence of azo-polyester films remarkably developed after interception of a pump beam. The birefringence increased by a factor-of-2. The thermal cis-trans isomerization of the azo groups contributed to this dark enhancement.
