Properties and application of the solid solution CdxHg1−xGa2S4 as a nonlinear optical crystal

Abstract

We review the optical properties of the mixed crystal CdxHg1−xGa2S4, propose three different potential applications, and present first experimental results on femtosecond optical parametric amplification in the mid-IR between 5.5 and 8 µm.
