Abstract

Water concentration and distribution in biotissues are important factors in many applications. In this paper, a novel method for water volume concentration and distribution measurement in thin fresh biotissues with tunable terahertz-wave parametric source is presented. The reliability of this method is validated. Measurement results using THz-wave are in good agreement with volume concentration measurement results based on the quantitative method. The results suggest water concentration and distribution measurement in thin biotissues using THz-wave will be a potential modality for medical diagnosis and therapeutics, chemical and biological identification.
