2D Spatial Modulation Instability in Second Harmonic Generation Scheme

Abstract

The spontaneous spatial break-up of laser beams in quadratic media is experimentally studied in second harmonic generation process. The spatial spectrum reveals two-dimensional modulation instability bands in agreement with numerical and theoretical analysis.
