Abstract

We have developed dual-layer write-once media with Te-O-Pd based recording films based on Blu-ray Disc (BD) Rewritable standards. Recording capacity was 46GB with dual-layer on a disk of φ120mm diameter. Rear and Front layers showed jitter of 5.6% and 5.7% respectively. Evaluations were carried out with blue-violet laser of 405nm wavelength, objective lens NA of 0.85, at 5.28m/s of recording linear velocity. Characteristics at high-speed recording were also tested, and it was revealed that carrier to noise ratios at high recording linear velocity of BD 2x (10.6m/s) and 4x (21.1m/s) were almost as same as those of 1x.
