Abstract

GeSb based materials are investigated for reversible phase-change recording. The microstructure and crystallization temperatures are determined. It is found that films crystallized to single Sb phase and crystallization temperature decreases as Sb content increases. Time- resolved reflectivity measurements are used to reveal amorphization and crystallization dynamics. Optical disks with GeSb based active layer and DVD format show up to 54 dB CNR at DVD.
