Abstract

Semiconductor laser transmitters with wide, fine and fast tunability are essential components to realize future wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks cost-effectively. A Grating assisted codirectional Coupler with rear Sampled grating Reflector (GCSR) laser is one of the most promising candidates for such transmitters, to provide the required tunability with low driving currents [1,2].
