A Nonsymmetrical Mach-Zehnder Interferometer for Suppressing Pattern Effect in SOAs

Abstract

A novel idea of using change in index of refraction to suppress the pattern effect caused by gain variation in saturated SOAs with Mach-Zehnder interferometers is demonstrated. The principle and the experimental verification are presented.
