An Efficient Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for Service and Restoration in WDM Rings

Abstract

We present a vertex-coloring based service and restoration wavelength assignment algorithm for WDM rings. Through performance bounds and simulations, we show that this algorithm achieves low wavelength requirement, and is suitable for reducing fault-monitoring costs.
