Enhanced PMD mitigation by polarization scrambling and forward error correction

Abstract

We propose a new polarization mode dispersion (PMD) mitigation scheme that combines polarization scrambling with forward error correction and adaptive electronic equalization. Simulations demonstrate that the remaining power penalties are significantly reduced.
