Abstract

We propose a new method of design and fabrication for a dispersion-managed fiber from a preform fabricated by a single MCVD process. Periodic etching during the MCVD process is used to change the index structure of the preform periodically along the longitudinal direction. A prototype fiber verifying the scheme has been fabricated.
