Analysis of Cladding-Pumped L-band Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier Performance

Abstract

Performance of L-band cladding-pumped EDFA is numerically analyzed. It is shown, that cladding-pumping reduces build-up of short-wavelength gain and ASE power. Amplifier noise and efficiency performance can be optimized based on proper cladding area choice.
