Micromachined Curling Optical Switch Array for PLC-Based, Integrated Programmable Add/Drop Multiplexer

Abstract

We propose a micromachined optical switch array which is suitable for integration in planar lightwave circuit. A programmable add/drop multiplexer fabricated using the micromechanical processing and silica techniques demonstrates good performances and applicability to actual optical networks.
