Abstract

We propose a cost-effetive 8-channel coarse WDM system employing uncooled fiber Bragg grating lasers with 600GHz channel spacing. Gigabit Ethernet transmission experiment using a conventional EDFA supports feasibility of this system even over dispersion-shifted fibers.
