Abstract

An InP-based monolithically integrated optical power monitor is presented. It utilizes an echelle grating demultiplexer having single-mode vertically integrated GaInAs waveguide PIN photodetectors inserted into each of its 44 output channels. The device enables high performance monitoring and has a footprint of only 7.3×20 mm.
