Fabrication and Characterization of Low Loss Heterostructured Photonic Crystal Waveguides

Abstract

We report a fiber butt-jointable Ta2O5/SiO2 pho-tonic crystal waveguide with a record low-loss (0.56 dB/mm). The waveguide has a heterostruc-ture and is fabricated by the autocloning technology. Details are described.
