Retiming of short optical pulses using linear pulse reshaping and all-optical switching

Abstract

An all-optical, all-fiberized technique for the elimination of timing jitter in short pulse transmission systems is experimentally demonstrated. The technique is based on pulse shaping in a superstructured fiber Bragg grating and optical switching in a nonlinear optical loop mirror.
