Accurate Raman Gain Measurement of Field Deployed Optical Fiber Cables with Small Pumping Power

Abstract

We have succeeded in measuring Raman gain of field deployed optical cables accurately with an average pumping power of only about 25mW. We assessed the fiber/cable dependency and the ambient temperature dependency of the Raman gain for forty fibers.
