Apodization of an elliptic-core two-mode fiber acousto-optic tunable filter

Abstract

We demonstrate a new apodization technique for an elliptic-core two-mode fiber acousto-optic tunable filter based on controlling the acoustic polarization. The intensity of the sidelobes in the filter spectrum was reduced by almost 6 dB using this apodization technique.
