Abstract

The first experimental observation of dynamic grating in polarization-maintaining erbium-doped fiber (PM-EDF) is reported and a novel fiber-optic strain- and temperature-sensing mechanism based on the dynamic grating in PM-EDF is demonstrated experimentally.
