Transmission of 42.8Gbit/s Polarizatio n Multiplexed NRZ-QPSK over 6400km of Standard Fiber with no Optical Dispersion Compensation

Abstract

We report the longest reach achieved for a 42.8Gbit/s system on standard fiber with no optical dispersion compensation. Using a digital coherent receiver a record total dispersion of 107, 424ps/nm was compensated with 1.2dB OSNR penalty.
