Why are dense WDM transparent networks more tolerant than expected to in-band crosstalk?

Abstract

We show that 43 Gb/s DPSK channels aligned on the 50 GHz ITU grid remain tolerant to crosstalk thanks to the narrow optical filtering functions of the traversed transparent nodes and their different routing states.
