Experimental Demonstration of Adaptive Bit and/or Power Loading for Maximising Real-Time End-to-End Optical OFDM Transmission Performance

Abstract

For the first time adaptive bit and/or power loading of real-time, end-to-end optical OFDM transceivers are experimentally demonstrated and compared. Low-complexity power loading only results in a penalty of ~7% compared to high-complexity bit-power-loading.
