We reviewed recent works on optical transmission using OAM modes. Free-space OAM transmissions with 100.8Tbit/s capacity, 230.1bit/s/Hz spectral efficiency and 1.6-Tbit/s fiber OAM transmission were demonstrated. OAM networking functionalities and future challenges were discussed.
