Sensing electric fields using thermally poled silica optical fibre at 50Hz

Abstract

Electric field sensing between two parallel plate electrodes at 50Hz is demonstrated. The polarisation dependence of linear electro-optic effect combined with a digital signal processing system enabled electric field measurements up to 250Hz.
