Carbon dots for biological imaging

Abstract

Carbon dots (CDs) have attracted interest due to their luminescence properties and diverse applications. We show that CDs surface-functionalized with hydrocarbon chains constitute versatile labels of peptides, membranes, bacterial and mammalian cells, and biological matrixes.
