Abstract

Recent studies on optically excited laser action of solid-state organic dye laser evoke the possibility of an electric current driven organic semicondcting solid state laser. Laser action using a distributed feedback (DFB) structure provides simple and unique feature of single mode lasing with wavelength tunability (tunable lasing) using dynamic holographic gratings. Increase of the long-term durability of an organic dye DFB laser, the achievement of lower threshold for lasing and the development of tough organic laser dye are main issues. Our approach for laser emission here is the use of a guest-host polymeric waveguide in which the effective energy transfer from host to guest emitter is expected to enhance the laser performance. 1,2
