Radiation Torques and Forces in Scattering from Spheres and Acoustical Analogues

Abstract

The radiation torque on a sphere in circularly polarized light was shown to be proportional to absorption [Marston and Crichton, Phys. Rev. A 30, 2508 (1984)]. Related developments concerning torques and forces of optical and acoustical vortices are noted.
