Abstract

We demonstrated that an optimal LADAR scheme requires a wavefront phase conjugate mirror (PCM) for efficient operation. Such a system can be built by using PC four-wave mixing (FWM) in a coupled-cavity laser scheme (CCLS). This provides a solution to the problem of maintaining mutual coherence between the pump and signal beams at arbitrary lengths of the partial cavities, as well as oscillation initiation in the entire system. The proposed CCLS can be used for tracking a remote target.
